Welcome to The Sinking, Campaign Serial, Season II.

The Mole, written by David Schwartz, is part of an ongoing series set in the Great City. This is not a numbered adventure in a path, but instead, it concerns a mysterious event that will forever alter the Great City, setting the tone for future events. Each one will be a stand-alone adventure, designed to be played independently without a specific sequence and can be completed in a single evening’s play.

The earthquake that caused the Sinking and the aftershocks that followed have opened up numerous cracks in the Great City’s foundations. Recently, several vagrants disappeared in the warehouse district known as the Shacks. When a stevedore disappeared, the Shacks militia traced the disappearances to a vacant warehouse.

The Mole is an adventure for Season II of the Great City: The Sinking adventure serial. It was designed using the Pathfinder RPG system and intended for a group of 6th-level Player Characters

The Rising Storm

The representatives of a local preservation society from a world within the sector, called Heaven's Gate, have been working with the governments of Earth for the last two decades. These represenatives have helped scientists from around the globe in understanding the very advanced technologies of the Synod of Worlds.

As a result, the overall level of technology for the planet has jumped far ahead of what was predicted and the Earth is on the cusp of a new era of exploration and war. Planetary and orbital defenses have been manufactured non stop since the Prometheus Revelation. Planetary Defense Forts are littered around the globe on volcanic islands and barren mountain ranges in order to minimized collateral damage. Armies of powered armor, tanks and mecha fighting vehicles have been rolling off of the production lines and the men and women who will pilot them trained relentlessly in thier use. New tactics and weapons have been developed and the beginnings of a space navy are taking shape.

The preservation societies cannot provide warships to the Terrans but only old and frail cargo haulers of various sizes. Many of these have been put to use building a naval shipyard in the asteroid belt. The first of many warships are not due to for completion for many months and even more months for shakedown and training of its crews. The rest of the second hand frieghters are being hastily converted, with some advisor's assistance, into heavily armed Q-ships and commerce raiders. A half dozen bulk frieghters are being converted into military transport ships and one enormous bulk goods ship into a fleet carrier capable fo carrying squadrons of drone fighters. The first Operation of this new fleet would be to establish a base in the nearby system of Alpha Centauri.

The Alpha Centauri system lies on the main trade route and shipping lane through the sector. It is one of the many links in the jump chain between the Jump Gate worlds of Heavan's Gate and Lion's Gate. Jump sensors will be placed around the main jumps points and a ground base will be placed on the only habitable world in the system, Alpha Centauri 3a, nicknamed Plymouth Rock by the predominately American ground forces.

The Alpha Centauri Campaign uses a Logistics Point and Intelligence Point system to represent the Tail of the military force you are commanding on the table-top and to give you a real sense of growing or depleting resources with each victory or loss. Intelligence Points earned represent the ebb and flow of information on the battlefield. In order to play another schenario you must spend Logistics and/or Intelligence points as you attempt to find, fix and destroy your enemy.  It is fairly simple and uncomplicated. 

The campaign is compatible with the Full Thrust, Stargrunt II and Dirtside II rules systems available for free from Ground Zero Games.

The set uses a modular building system, scalable printing and multiple colour variations for most of the models that allows you to create a near infinite amount of ship variations.

Why modular?
We specifically designed the sets to be modular so that you can truly have a unique fleet, no matter how many friends or gamers own the set, we can guarantee that no two builds will be the same. Its real simple to use, all the components are created from mostly basic shapes that can be assembled in any way you see fit. You can even mix and max different ships components, for example just out of the Battleship we were able to create one large frigate and a battleship and used some of the left over pieces to add weapons to the freighter set.

Not a kit basher or modular player?
No problem at all, each ship comes with full instructions on how to assemble it to resemble the original design. But trust us…. You will very soon be printing it out and modding it because its just sooo easy to totally get creative and unique with your builds.

Is there a Black Sun Wars gaming system?
Not yet, we will shortly launch a kickstarter campaign to help raise the funds we need to develop the Black Sun Wars system as well as 3 extra factions.

Sometimes rules supplements read like the world-setting bible of frustrated novelists. While solid world- building is a useful skill, you don’t always need four paragraphs of flavor text to tell you swords are cool, magic is power, shadows are scary, and orcs are savage. Sometimes a GM doesn’t have time to slog through a page of history for every magic weapon. Sometimes all that’s needed are a few cool ideas, with just enough information to use them in a game. Sometimes, all you need are bullet points.

#1 With A Bullet Point is a line of very short, cheap PDFs each of which gives the bare bones of a set of related options. It may be five spells, six feats, eight magic weapon special abilities, or any other short set of related rules we can cram into about a page. Short and simple, these PDFs are for GMs and players who know how to integrate new ideas into their campaigns without any hand-holding, and just need fresh ideas and the rules to support them. No in-character fiction setting the game world. No charts and tables. No sidebars of explanations and optional rules. Just one sentence of explanation for the High Concept of the PDF, then bullet points.

The High Concept: Six new nonmagic weapon special qualities (similar to brace, reach, and trip) to vastly expand the options a campaign has for unusual or bizarre tools for killing things. This is the latest in a series of products to celebrate the "Summer of Bullets" event!

The qualities included are:

  • Back Spike: A back spike weapon is a weapon that has a pick-like spike as a counterweight, allowing you to do their normal damage type or piercing damage.
  • Basket Hilt: A basket hilt weapon increases your CMD against disarm and sunder maneuvers made against the weapon, and gives you a shield bonus to AC when taking the full defense action.
  • Flamberge: A flamberge weapon has an undulating, wavy pattern along its length, allowing you to attack your foes when using the parry class feature.
  • Parry Hooks: Parry hooks (also called parierhaken) are forward-curing spikes or flukes mounted just in front of the ricasso (unsharpened section of a blade) of a twohanded sword or bastard sword, or partway along a 2-handed hafted weapon (such as a longspear).They function exactly the same way as the flamberge feature.
  • Ringed: A ringed weapon has a number of metal rings added along its length, giving it additional heft and momentum when swung. Increasing damage dealt at the expense of accuracy.
  • Springy: A springy weapon is more flexible than normal, able to bend by a considerable angle and still spring back to its original shape. A springy weapon is harder to pin down with combat maneuvers, and the wielder gains a +2 bonus to his CMD against disarm and sunder maneuvers made against it.

A Pathfinder/3.5 Compatible Adventure for 4-6 PCs of levels 6-8

After battling their way to the dwarven trade center of Embla, the PCs find a city under siege, as business dries up and the population show increasing signs of fear towards the drow city of Holoth and its power-hungry head family, House Gullion. So confident, so audacious has Matron Maelora of House Gullion become, that she starts the plans to expand the influence of her house to both the Under and Overworlds by assaulting Embla, initially in a small way, but with greater plans afoot.

Once the ruling council of Embla has woken up to its predicament and gained the PCs as allies, it takes full advantage of the Overworlders help. With most of Embla’s dwarven warriors having been enslaved or killed, the party represents an unexpected addition to the city’s arsenal; advice, guidance and equipment are offered, and the party can either attempt to enter the city of Holoth with a force of Rybalkan soldiers or go along with a reliable and revitalized guide into the lesser-used passages of the Underworld.

But neither path is the easy route; each has its perils and predicaments. Allies may be gained or friends lost, and approaching Holoth will tax the party. Because on accepting the calls to help the dwarves of Embla, the PCs find their choices will have profound implications on the Underworld, as well as Rybalka and the entire Vikmordere Valley. When the dust settles, the entire region may be changed forever.
