Mike’s Free Encounter #75: Necrosaurus

This is the 75th in an ongoing series aimed to provide the overworked DM with ready-to run encounters. The PCs face the pre-historic horror of the necrosaurus.

Created during an ancient civil war, the necrosaurs, were made from the bones of tyrannosaurus rexes and other predatorial dinosaurs. These creatures were not mere animated bones but were infused with necrotic fire and proved very effective as weapons.

While this civil war ended differently in different realities but in most of them at least a few necrosaurs survived, often buried, or sealed away in ancient dungeons.

A single necrosaurus is CR 8.   The encounter can easily be modified by increasing the number of foes.

It includes a history/background for the encounter, a map, and monster stats. The companion ZIP file contains JPEG versions of the maps (with and without grid), the Word file of the encounter, and a Fantasy Grounds Unity Module file.

What Is The Goodman Games Gazette?

Hear ye, hear ye!

You won’t find it at the newsstand or bundled with the Sunday paper — it’s the Goodman Games Gazette! This occasional, unpredictable, incomparable grab-bag of news, interviews, extras, and inside info has the astoundingly wizard-like ability to arrive precisely when it means to!

But how does one acquire this marvelous broadsheet? As the Gazette is our “house rag” it’s timed to a very precise schedule of “it’ll happen, when it happens.” Generally this means it will ship alongside one of our big projects — a kickstarter or other big publication, the launch of a new season of the Road Crew, or perhaps a major convention or other release. For example, our most recent installment is Vol 2 No. 6, a giant-sized issue aimed at new players that ships with the DCC First Time Fan Kit.

The Goodman Games Gazette takes its inspiration from the era of direct distribution and mail order gaming, when nary a magazine or specialty store existed — let alone an internet full of up-to-the-second news, community reviews and chatter, or instantaneous purchasing! But, in many ways this modern Golden Age of RPGs has come back full circle to the more direct relationship between publishers and fans, and the Goodman Games Gazette is our way of talking directly to you.
