Deadlands: the Weird West Kickstarter Updates Aplenty

As of this writing, our Kickstarter for Deadlands: the Weird West has been grinding away for one week and already you’ve unlocked a whopping 15 Stretch Goals with more on the horizon!

First off, we want to tip our hats to thank all of you for your enthusiasm and support. We really couldn’t do this without you and we hope you’ll continue to spread the word about Deadlands: the Weird West.

At the launch of the Kickstarter, several of you posted photos of yourself in Western gear, brandishing past covers of Deadlands, and other cool ways to represent your love for our little game. We felt it was only right to share!

Second, we’re very excited to announce that our good buckaroos with Saving Throw and WildCards will be saddling up for a sneak peek of Deadlands: the Weird West in a special, two-episode arc beginning this Sunday, May 3rd, at 6pm Pacific. Set a reminder to watch ’em LIVE on Twitch and then catch the archived episodes on their YouTube channel.

Third, to whet your whistle while you wait (and that is a LOT of alliteration, by the way), we present a FREE sneak peek of one of the most horrifying abominations in all the Weird West… the dreaded Hangin’ Judge, all gussied up for the new edition of Deadlands: the Weird West!

Fourth, anyone who offers proof of their collected pledge for Deadlands: the Weird West can snag a Doomtown Base Set PLUS a sweet deck tin for only $20! Just email [email protected] after the Kickstarter ends to get in on this incredible deal!

And finally, speaking of abominations from the Weird West, we just had to share this pic of some bloated Prairie Tick Queen minis masterfully painted up by Cedric Chin. We got itchy just lookin’ at these creepy-crawlies. Great job, Cedric!

The Deadlands: the Weird West Kickstarter continues for another two weeks, but if you’re as much a fan of the Weird West as we are, you won’t want to miss a minute of the fun! Saddle up today!

Marshal’s Badge added to the $220 High Roller reward level, along with these deluxe metal dice and dice tray from Norse Foundry!

Savage Retailer Info for the Deadlands: the Weird West Kickstarter

From the very beginning, we have always offered ways for retailers to be a part of our Kickstarters and that holds true for Deadlands: the Weird West as well!

First of all, we know things are tough for retailers the world over, many of whom have temporarily closed their doors due to the COVID-19 crisis. For this reason, there is no retailer “reward level” in the Kickstarter. We’re instead reminding retailers to join our Savage Retailer list!

If retailers pledge to back our Deadlands: the Weird West Kickstarter, that helps us because people following them see it (any funds they pledge will be a credit later for purchases in the pledge manager). Retailers should pledge for the Kickstarter if they want access to all the Deadlands PDFs, especially stretch goals, for their own personal use. And we hope retailers will encourage their customers to pledge for digital rewards as well, then ask customers to preorder physical items from their store!

Second, every physical product from the Deadlands: the Weird West Kickstarter will be available for Savage Retailers to preorder, and they can add other items from our PEGinc.com store. This includes the “High Roller” specialty items like the Marshal badge, and the deluxe metal dice and dice tray from Norse Foundry!

Third, if you’re a new Savage Retailer, this may come as a shock to you, but we actually offer complimentary PDFs to your customers. Here’s how that works:

  1. Customers buy the physical product from a Savage Retailer and get a receipt.
  2. Customers email us the receipt at [email protected] with their PEGinc.com store email address (the one they use to log in). If the item is not clearly printed on the receipt by the store, a photo of the book will do alongside the receipt.
  3. We put a copy of the PDF in the customer’s account at PEGinc.com. If we ever update the PDF it gets updated automatically in their account and they can re-download.

The perks of backing our Deadlands: the Weird West Kickstarter now as a Digital Player or Digital Marshal include access to all the PDFs, including stretch goals. They also receive the PDFs at DriveThruRPG.com.

And finally, in regards to shipping, all domestic Savage Retailers (those in the lower 48) receive free shipping on orders through the pledge manager, while international Savage Retailers receive discounted shipping. Just email [email protected] once your order is complete

The Great Indoors – A Song for Vyseria

Publisher: Gallant Knight Games

Requires Tiny Dungeon Second Edition.
This adventure is part of the Tiny Trove Community Content Challenge.

Legends, tales and rumors are told about the Tangle. A mysterious maze which cracked the dense forests and mountains from Damdurran, as it rose out of nowhere.

Songs of fallen heroes, lost artifacts and the promise of never-ending mountains of gold are sung in the Days End Inn. This vivid and joyful inn offers warm beds, cold ales and rare steaks to adventurers at the end of a day filled with hard labor.

A recent event, however, silenced the Days End Inn. Its vocal artist, Vyseria, has gone missing. Her spouse and partner on stage, Eoldun, only plays the saddest tunes and sings lyrics of grief.
This adventure offers more than just treasures and lost artifacts. Aiding Eoldun in finding his beloved Vyseria could possibly result in unlocking a new Prestige Trait and some Bardic Cantrips.

30×20 Battlemap – Flooded Undercity Arena

Publisher: Seafoot Games

Flooded Undercity Arena

Heavy stone pedestals mark the outskirts of the arena, angelic statues standing upon them grasping chains or holding swords.

Many stone pillars hold up the cavernous roof over the crowded stands and platform that looks down upon the contestants. The floor has fallen away In many places and been flooded by excess wter from the nearby sewers. Sharped wooden spikes have been placed all along the walls and around many of the pillars within the arena while bloody marks have been left upon the stone from previous battles.

A large symbol has been carved into the stone floor, a mark of the owner of this place as well as a functional trap door that leads to the elevator used to get the combatants access to the arena.

Idle Thoughts on Idol Pursuits (Ronin Roundtable)

The shared world experience is an interesting one, something my earliest experiences with roleplaying games informed me about. After all, I started out playing around in imaginary worlds created by others, first as a hobby and later as a professional writer, so it’s a natural progression that now, other people are playing around in imaginary worlds that I created. One of the important things about shared worlds is that they’re like living things: They grow and change over time and, while you might help to create one, or even “raise” it, ultimately, it doesn’t belong to you and it can be better from a lot of different contributions.

Idol Pursuits, the Mutants & Masterminds novella from Nisaba Press, written by Michael Matheson, is an example of how those diverse shared-world contributions come together. Like the upcoming NetherWar adventure series for the Mutants & Masterminds RPG, the story of Idol Pursuits has its origins in the update of the Freedom City sourcebook (itself the origin of the Earth-Prime setting) to the third edition of the M&M rules.

One of the background elements that was updated in Freedom City is a change in the forces of magic in the world: The loss of Adrian Eldritch as Master Mage, followed by his successor Seven inadvertently becoming ruler of the Netherworld, forced to exile herself from Earth. Now sinister forces of sorcery that were once under control are rising in power. One strand of that story is told in NetherWar (NetherWar: Master of Earth is on sale NOW!), while others appear in M&M fiction like Idol Pursuits and the forthcoming novel The Doom That Came to San Francisco.

When there’s magic at work in the world of Earth-Prime, you can bet things are going to happen in Mystery, New Hampshire, a mystic part of the setting I first detailed in Altas of Earth-Prime, which is also the setting for Idol Pursuits. Just the place where you might expect a deathless vigilante dealing out harsh justice might come across a strange idol that everyone seems to want, and team up with a young sorcerer-detective and his sword-wielding barbarian protector. For me, it’s a fun experience to see Matheson’s Revenant, Kid Necro, and Ilkath, among others, meet up with some familiar Freedom City characters of my creation, mixed with other contributions to Earth-Prime like Scott Bennie’s specialists in magic and
